Ooh Bugger, there goes me back.
I’m sorry to say that injury stopped play last weekend. Everything started out so well, but Saturday afternoon I was quite innocuously screwing bits of maple together in the bedroom when my back started loudly protesting its opposition to my own point of view. This in itself is nothing particularly unusual but it was enough to stop me for the day at least. The next morning however I got out of bed and, accompanied by searing pain, did a passable impression of a dying spider on the engine room floor. I discovered that I simply couldn’t stand up and walk at all, which made life a bit difficult as I was alone on board and I really needed a wee. I got to the lav in the end, but spent the rest of the long weekend doing absolutely nothing. Except for growling every now and then. Becky kindly came to my rescue and helped me to pack up and disembark, as by Monday there was little change in my predicament.
So, I apologise for the lack of anything exciting to report, believe me I’m twice as disappointed as you are. It’s mostly better now, I’ve been to see an osteopath which was an experience in itself, if he hadn’t have got me in a sort of an elaborate headlock at the time I think I may have actually punched him when he made my back crack the way he did. At least I could stand up a bit straighter afterward though so it’s possible that he knows what he’s doing.

Bastard things bad backs! With mine if it protests and affords me the time? I hang from a deck beam or hatch edge for a few minutes with my legs straight down and relax for a while and that seems to get me over the next day
"at 17-00 hours syndrome" when I can`t move at all!" I`m certainly no expert but others that I know have also found that it works for them!
Yes Seb's maternal grandfather, 6'3" used to hang his back from door architraves, knees bent! And also wear a back brace, especially when he knew heavy work or a hard day was ahead of him.
Batman used to hang upside down (well, he did in the first Batman film version - Michael Keaton). Hope its better now. Did you get your photos?
Sympathy for the back troubles Seb.
A physiotherapist treated me years ago and taght me the best remedy. Strong tummy muscles seem to keep my puny spine supported. When it occasionally 'goes' I treat internally with whisky.
Oh btw, look out for another Iron Lady appearing in the shipyard in the next few weeks. I finally got there.
I am awaiting la prochaine chapitre!
Wendy And Graham,
Duly noted, but the blood keeps rushing to me 'ead!
Yes thank you VERY much I did get the pics, great stuff, and good to see the old girl in her working liveries too.
Proper thanks on their way by snail mail...
Rolf,
(bump, seb falls off chair) wicked! the fruition of many long held plans for you then, can't wait to have the tour.
By the way, your workshop still standing with all its glass after osbornes burned down last friday?? Fair blast by all accounts, me stuck at work so haven't seen the aftermath and of course praying that all is ok with wendy, although she's a way away from ground zero so I don't see why not, oh, and I have my spies too of course. If you around this weekend do come and say hello in the evening, the beers should be nice and cold by then...
Mum,
I know, back's fine again now, love S x
